Alternative Therapies in Tackling Cancer
Thanks to advances in medicine and related fields, cancer need not be a life threatening illness today. The question that arises is whether the use of chemicals in are necessary.
Chemo and radiation work wonders for a lot of patients, and should not be dismissed necessarily. The choice to pursue those therapies is one that is personal and should be discussed with the patient's physician.
But there are reports of additional therapies that appear to help conventional cancer treatment methods. Some patients have reported success while relying solely on these therapies.
Eating the right foods
You are what you eat and there is a plethora of research to suggest that eating the right foods has a positive effect on illnesses, including cancer. (Although there is more evidence to show that eating the wrong foods actually cause cancer).
Nevertheless, there are reports of success from patients on organic or low processed food diets. They maintain that eliminating unnatural elements from the diet help in restoring the body's'sbalance to the extent that it prevents cancer cells from attacking their bodies.
One of the leaders in other cancer fighting foods (besides vegetables and fruits) is green tea. It seems that green tea has reduced cancerous tumors in some patients. While studies are conflicting, there seems to be promise with three cups of green tea per day.
Stretching to rest and relax
While relaxation itself seems to be beneficial, yoga and other meditative activities seem to create a healthy state in the body-one that can help to attack the cancer that's present.
These techniques are used in conjunction with chemotherapy and radiation. They help reduce stress and are believed to create a positive attitude in the patient that seems to help fight the cancer.
Regular exercise rebuilds fatigued muscles and improves circulation. This helps alleviate a lot of the stress and anxiety felt by patients when they learn of their cancer and have to make certain lifestyle changes.
Cancer is not the end of the world and with the right treatment and a positive outlook, a patient can beat the disease. Alternate therapies provide added relief along the road to recovery.
You can't do enough for yourself when you have cancer.
